Studio D'Artisan "Kurozome" Ultimate-Black MA-1 Flight Jacket
Blacker than black!
Utilising traditional dyeing techniques dating back over 1,000 years SDA has landed hot on the runway with this one! Originating from the Kyoto Montsuki dyeing tradition, these techniques were used to dye garments worn by Buddhist priests and Samurai as formal attire. This dyeing method involves a slow and laborious process whereby base layers of red or indigo dye are applied before a natural black hand dye derived from betel nuts (Binroji) is applied multiple times. Each garment is hand-dyed by one of a small handful of highly skilled craftsmen, resulting in a super dark, ultimate-black colourway!
The shell of this MA-1 flight jacket is constructed with their specially developed, medium--weight high-density military-style cotton twill. It has been grand indigo thread-dyed first and then "Kurozome" hand-dyed over 10 times to give it an ultimate black look in brand new condition. With time, you will see the ultimate black fade very slowly to a dark blue hue then more shades of indigo will come up little by little with wear and wash!
This MA-1 flight jacket is finished by the most skilful Japanese factory that has produced military-style jackets over decades, each jacket is hand-sewn by the most skilful artisan at a slow pace with passion like a tailored jacket or suit!
If you are looking for the flyest flight jacket, this is the ultimate version!
