STUDIO D'ARTISAN 15OZ KAKISHIBU X KASE INDIGO SELVAGE SASHIKO BLAZER
Japanese traditional dying for a semi-casual look.
Rooted back in the Heian period in Japan, SDA was inspired by the traditional dying techniques using persimmon. They call this Kakishibu!
The persimmon was originally used in China for its beautiful hue as well as its anti-bacterial properties. When it made its way into Japan thousands of years ago it was a very popular, precious technique. Even to this day, Kakishibu is still a popular and respected technique. This tradition is complemented by the Sashiko, another historical piece of Japanese workwear from the past.
As we've seen before from SDA, when they do sashiko they go for the highest standard. This specially developed 15oz sashiko is selvage fabric and features many beautiful hidden decorations showing off the selvage id. Thanks to being woven using vintage machines, the surface is full of texture. The raised sections feature grand indigo dyed threads and the lower crevasses feature the Kakishibu dyed threads. The overall pattern gives off a luxurious appearance that will become more soulful with wear and fading.
Constructed with extra heavy cotton threads using vintage twin needles machines, the overall look is tastefully formal yet durable for your daily use. Each of the engraved buttons features a heavy cowhide leather backing for added strength. A typical detail is seen on high-end leather jackets. The collar is balanced for a semi-casual look and can always be adjusted to protect you from the wind.

Studio D'Artisan 10oz 'Tsuri-Ami' Loopwheeled Sweatshirt (Kakishibu)
Kakishibu, as known as Japanese Traditional Persimmon Dye!
This dyeing technique was imported from China 1000s years ago and it becomes a Japanese cultural heritage. Japanese craftsmen get the dyeing juice from persimmon and dye the clothing with it. For all the Kakishibu dyed garments, they can prevent mosquitoes so that is why Kakishibu dyed garments are still very popular in Japan!
This 10oz loopwheel fabric is specially created by a small family-own loopwheel factory in Wakayama, Japan which has been producing the best loopwheel garments for over a century. Its loopwheel fabric is slowly woven from the vintage hanging machine that can only produce 12 ~ 15 pieces of sweatshirts per day. The interior is brushed like some finest cashmere that makes you stay cozy in the cold season!
To hold the shape of its sweatshirt better than usual ones, SDA uses a vintage jacquard knitting machine to finish its ribbed 'V' inserted collar, cuffs and hem. The body construction is finished by 'Twin-Needle-Construction' guarantees that you can wear it for over a decade comfortably!
