Studio D'Artisan 14oz "Midare" Kasuri Indigo Type 2 Denim Jacket
Talking about Kasuri Indigo, Studio D'Artisan could be the first brand we have known who has been promoting it over the years with many different types of Kasuri Indigo dyed products!
An ancient indigo dyeing technique called Kasuri was developed from Ikat dyeing during the reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom around 1200AD. Today, we would love to introduce you to this 14oz "Midare" Kasuri Indigo Type 2 Denim Jacket from SDA!
This type 2 denim jacket is made with their specially developed 14oz Kasuri indigo-dyed denim. It is made of long-fibre, brownish hue African cotton and slowly woven from the vintage Toyoda G3 machine. This process gives it a beautiful irregular texture but also a smooth touch. The warp has been thread dyed with genuine indigo, being with time, it will age to a high-contrasted and soulful look.
Construction-wise, this denim jacket comes with a 'T-Back' vintage type 2 denim jacket design, and lightweight indigo-dyed chambray lined pocket flaps which are vintage-inspired with a modern twist!

Hot on the heels of the release of the Hideaki Anno (he of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame) 2023 film adaption, we are pleased to bring you some gear to help protect you in the fight against the evil SHOCKER organisation! On this shirt we see Kamen Rider standing tall in his full insectoid glory, belt and other logos on proud display.
The loopwheel fabric is made using USA cotton on vintage machines. This fabric has a classic textured feeling thanks to the natural cotton fibres and weaving method. Then the fabric is taken to SDA's craftsman for the construction of the final tees! With use the fabric’s texture will be enhanced and gain a soul of its own when the fabric ages to a lighter tone.
The shirt has several prints over the garments, featuring a mix of Kamen Rider and SDA iconography.

The history of sashiko Japanese fabric has evolved from the tradition of continually repairing kimonos, that would be traditionally worn all year round. These days sashiko stitch-work patterns are incorporated for their aesthetic beauty and unique Japanese design! This 15oz sashiko fabric has been slowly woven using vintage dobby knitting looms to create an unreal three-dimensional texture!
The ancient mud-dyeing process called "dorozome" dates back over 1000 years, using the unique dye properties of the mud and hawthorn trees native to the Amami Islands! This process, performed by highly skilled Japanese craftsmen, results in a garment-dyed fabric with a rich dark mahogany brown colour. With wear and washing this fabric will slowly age to a soulful earthy look!

Inspired by the Japanese "Ajiro" weaving techniques used traditionally for bamboo wickerwork, SDA has utilized these techniques in its new denim collection to create a striking look! In the traditional Japanese manner, "Ajiro" is so precious it is said to bring happiness and protect the wearer! You can feel its unique texture from the touch and even pass it to the next generation as a heirloom.
This 13oz selvage "Ajiro Denim" is slowly woven using a vintage denim machine to create the beautiful uneven 'roping check' pattern. The criss-cross pattern has an amazing 3-dimensional texture you can see and feel! The colours have been sumi and grand indigo thread-dyed to create a beautiful monochrome look! Traditionally used in Japanese calligraphy, Sumi dye is an amazing natural black colour historically made from burnt pinewood roots. With wear and wash, you can expect this garment to age to a high-contrasted and also very soulful look!

This results from the washing process in Japan that gives the fabric a swollen appearance.
