Crafted from PBJ’s specially developed 13.5oz blue selvedge I.D. denim with a mild-nep texture, this denim is slowly woven on vintage looms to achieve a silky-smooth hand touch and a subtle, neppy character. This exclusive 13.5oz denim is produced solely for this natural indigo model — a denim you won’t find in any other PBJ collection!

Rooted in over a thousand years of Japanese craftsmanship, the natural indigo hand-dyeing process is a true art form — one that only a handful of master artisans in Japan can complete to perfection… or perhaps we should say, MAGICALLY! Each batch of cotton threads must be dyed under precise conditions: the temperature must be just right, the humidity around 80%, and every dip into the natural indigo vat must be performed with utmost care to achieve an even, luminous blue. Unlike synthetic indigo, natural indigo lacks the chemical agents that help color penetrate cotton fibers quickly. This means the dyeing process must be repeated about 20 times for this 13.5oz denim — a labor-intensive ritual that results in a deep, rich tone that ages beautifully over time, revealing layer upon layer of indigo hues.
