Pure Blue Japan 9oz “Boro Style” Jacquard Oxford Shirts
"Boro Style — Where Ancient Japan Meets Modernity!"
The first release of this 8oz "Boro Style" Jacquard Oxford Shirt dates back over a decade ago. To be honest, when we first saw it, it completely blew us away. Boro is a traditional Japanese mending technique, where worn garments were carefully repaired and reinforced with layers of fabric rather than discarded. It was often used to preserve valuable clothing — such as silk kimonos — allowing these treasured pieces to be worn for many more years and eventually passed down to future generations.
This shirt is crafted from an exclusive 8oz jacquard fabric, specially developed by Pure Blue Japan and slowly woven on vintage jacquard looms to recreate the distinctive patchwork aesthetic of traditional Japanese Boro repair techniques. As it gradually ages, the intricate “Boro Style” jacquard pattern becomes increasingly pronounced, revealing even greater depth, texture, and character over time.
Construction-wise, this shirt features full chain-stitch construction throughout, ensuring exceptional durability and allowing it to withstand years of regular wear while ageing beautifully alongside the fabric.
Available in two colourways, Grand Indigo and Solid Black:
