Maru Sankaku Peke “Aizome-Kimono-Style” Sports Jacket
Taking inspiration from the ancient Japanese kimono and the 1950s American sports jacket design, MSP delivers a very creative, elegant style for a modern, high-end fashion piece.
The shell is crafted from Japanese deadstock antique medium-weight linen twill—fabric originally intended for kimono production decades ago. Slowly woven on vintage machines, it offers a silky-smooth hand feel with subtle, uneven textures that reflect its artisanal origins. The pure indigo is achieved through thread-dyeing, allowing the fabric to evolve much like raw denim. With wear and washing, it develops a striking, high-contrast patina, revealing layered hues of indigo over time.
The lining of the body is finished with Japanese lightweight indigo check cotton twill; the indigo colours are thread-dyed as well, which will age nicely along with the shell itself. Both sleeves are lined with Japanese lightweight Cupro, crafted from the finest short-staple cotton fibres. It offers a silk-like touch with excellent breathability.
From a design perspective, the collar, shoulders, and back panel draw inspiration from traditional Japanese kimono construction, seamlessly blended with classic 1950s American sports jacket details such as adjustable cuffs and an elasticated hem. This thoughtful fusion creates a silhouette that is relaxed, distinctive, and effortlessly understated.
If you are after an indigo dyed sports jacket with a “Simple and Special” look, this is the ultimate version!
