“Black Wing — Serpent Air!”
Taking inspiration from the late 1940s USAAF L-2 Flight Jacket design, Samurai have enhanced the materials and construction of this classic design to produce a unique Solid Black Denim version for us to enjoy!
The shell utilises Samurai’s specially developed 15oz selvedge solid black denim. Slowly woven on vintage denim machines, this process yields a fabric which is smooth to the touch with subtle underlying irregular textures. Both the warp and weft yarns are dyed solid black, such that with wear and wash, the fabric will age beautifully into a high-contrast “black and white” look. The lining is constructed from Japanese medium weight, high-density cotton, over-dyed black to match perfectly with the denim shell itself.
Design-wise, we love the high-density ribbed sections on the collar, hem, and cuffs, crafted from fabric slowly knitted on vintage jacquard machines, helping the jacket maintain its shape for years to come. Both embroidered patches are finished on vintage embroidery machines, providing them with a vivid, three-dimensional look. At the same time, Samurai has taken extra care to included blackened iron buttons, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the jacket.
