“One Aizome. Two Realities.”
This work shirt is constructed using two different heavyweight fabrics: sashiko for the sleeves and ripstop for the body. Both fabrics are slowly woven on vintage shuttle looms, resulting in rich textures and character throughout. The cotton yarns are first rope-dyed in grand indigo before being hand overdyed hand with traditional Aizome (natural indigo) by skilled Japanese craftsmen, creating a unique and layered indigo tone. In time with wear and washing, the fabric will fade beautifully, developing a high-contrast patina similar to Samurai’s raw denim whilst still retaining the subtle green hue characteristic of natural indigo dye.
Design-wise, we especially love the removable collar, giving you the flexibility to wear it either as a classic work shirt or as a more refined band-collar shirt. The shirt is constructed with durable chain-stitch sewing throughout, ensuring it will stand up to many years of wear.
