Crafted with Omoto Denim’s Signature 13.5oz Green Selvage ID Denim. This exceptional denim is woven using a custom-developed 13.5oz green selvage ID fabric, uniquely composed of 65% hand-picked long-staple Memphis cotton from the USA and 35% premium long-staple Zimbabwean cotton. The blend combines the soft, silky hand-feel reminiscent of 100% Zimbabwean cotton with the irregular, rugged texture often found in 100% American cotton denim—offering the best of both worlds! Woven slowly and meticulously on an extremely rare 1950s Sakamoto shuttle loom, this denim embodies the heritage of true vintage craftsmanship. The use of this vintage loom ensures a dense, character-rich fabric that modern machines simply can't replicate!
To achieve Omoto's signature "Grand Indigo" tone, the yarns undergo a pure indigo rope-dyeing process more than 20 times. The finished fabric is then entrusted to skilled Japanese artisans, who hand-dye each jacket using the traditional Japanese charcoal-dyeing technique, creating its distinctive Sumi Black appearance. With wear and washing, the charcoal-dyed surface gradually fades to reveal the rich indigo layers beneath, producing a truly magical ageing process.
Inspired by the 1940s, this denim jacket brings a modern twist to a classic silhouette. Designed in the simplified Type 1 "T-Back" style of WWII-era denim jackets, it captures vintage authenticity while adding thoughtful contemporary updates—like hidden hand-warmer side pockets for comfort during colder months.
