SDA has produced these amazing summer workshirts using traditional natural indigo dyeing techniques dating back over 1000 years ago when indigo was first introduced to Japan from China. SDA have specially developed this amazing shirting fabric inspired by traditional kimono textiles for the perfect summer work shirt!
This shirt is constructed with 100% cotton fabric inspired by traditional "shijira-ori" from the Awa region of Japan. Slowly woven using vintage jacquard machines, this lightweight fabric has an incredible "puckered" texture that resists clinging to the skin in humid weather. The natural indigo has been thread-dyed for an amazing depth of colour! Following traditional techniques, the natural indigo dyeing process takes over a year from growing and harvesting the indigo leaves to forming them into sukumo, the base for indigo dye. Finally, skilled craftsmen hand-dye the raw cotton threads many, many times to achieve the deep, rich indigo colour. With wear and washing, you will see even more hues of indigo as this shirt ages to a beautiful high-contrast look!
Construction-wise, this shirt features twin buttoned chest pockets to store your daily goods as well as polished white urea buttons to complement the indigo colourway! With a wide collar and relaxed fitting, this shirt is perfect for everyday wear!
