Ultimate Japanese traditional natural hand-dye process!
To celebrate its 45th Anniversary, SDA has cooked something extra special! This 15oz type 2 denim jacket is dyed with a combination of natural indigo hand-dyed on the warp and natural "Hinode" red coloured hand-dye which has traditionally been associated with the deep red of the rising sun emblem!
This jacket is constructed with SDA's specially developed 15oz "Akane red" selvage I.D irregular denim. Slowly woven on vintage machines, this denim has an incredible ultra-slubby feel with a pronounced vertical texture symbolizing the rays of the rising sun a.k.a "Hinode".
Talking about the hand-dyeing technique of this jacket. The warp has been natural indigo thread-dyed by hand over 10 times which can only be done 1 time per day before the process is repeated. The cotton threads of the weft have been "Hinode" hand-dyed by hand over 10 times as well in the traditional Japanese way. To achieve this wonderful ultimate hand-dyed denim combined with both "Awa (natural)" and "Hinode (Sunrise Red)" colours, it takes more than 9 months to just finish this hand-dyeing process! Of course, the hand-dyeing process will make sure the colours of the garment last over centuries that you can leave to your grandchildren or grand-grandchildren!
Construction-wise, this jacket features a classic type 2 design with twin chest pockets, pleated plackets, iron button waist adjusters. The custom ultra-thick "Hinode" leather patch will age with a tasteful dark patina. The iron buttons are sulphur black overdyed and will chip and fade with time to reveal the silver colour underneath.
