The design of this wallet draws inspiration from the rugged outdoor tri-fold wallets of the 1970s. Originally practical and utilitarian, those early versions were never intended to be detailed or high-end pieces. BONCOURA reimagines the classic design with a refined twist, elevating it through carefully selected premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The result is a truly distinctive, high-end interpretation unlike anything we’ve seen before.
The shell is crafted from BONCOURA’s specially developed suede cowhide—the same premium suede used in its leather jackets. Tanned using BONCOURA’s uniquely developed combination of vegetable and chrome tanning methods, the leather possesses rich character and depth, becoming even more beautiful as it ages. Each piece of full-grain cowhide is carefully hand-selected by BONCOURA for its soulful texture and natural expression, ensuring that every wallet carries its own distinct personality.
Design-wise, this is a tri-fold middle wallet that comes with one large notes compartment, five card compartments and one small coin compartment. The wallet intentionally retains its signature hook-and-loop closure — the very detail that inspired the name “BARI-BARI.” Rather than replacing it with buttons or snaps, BONCOURA preserves this tactile, audible interaction as part of the design language, celebrating the honest functionality and nostalgic character of classic outdoor gear.
