“LIFETIME Leather Jacket!”
This collaborative horsehide jacket draws inspiration from 1940s vintage leather sports jackets. Developed in partnership with RAGGY CLOTHING, the design has been carefully refined and elevated through the use of higher-grade materials, bringing a new level of craftsmanship to a timeless silhouette!
The shell is constructed from 1.3mm full-grain horsehide, sourced from Northern Europe. The raw hides undergo an extensive vegetable tanning and paraffination process in Japan, carried out by skilled artisans over a period of more than three months. Following this, RAGGY CLOTHING entrusts the leather to a specialised dyeing workshop in Japan. The process begins with an overdye in a rich red-brown tone on the natural, undyed vegetable-tanned base. From there, traditional hand-dyeing techniques are used to carefully apply layers of ink black over the surface. This meticulous method creates a black tea-core horsehide that evolves beautifully with wear. Over time, the deep black exterior gradually reveals the warm reddish-brown core beneath, developing a striking, high-contrast patina unique to each piece.
The lining is finished with RAGGY CLOTHING’s specially developed high-density cupro, crafted from the finest short-staple cotton fibres. It offers a silk-like touch with excellent breathability, ensuring comfort across seasons while wearing a leather jacket. Compared to silk, cupro provides greater structural strength, allowing it to withstand years of wear without compromising its feel.
From a design perspective, we worked closely with RAGGY CLOTHING to incorporate fixed pleats, offering a more modern interpretation while allowing greater freedom of movement compared to traditional 1950s styles. The jacket is also equipped with twin side adjusters at the waist, enabling a flexible fit—perfect for layering across seasons and adapting to different styling preferences.
