“Write Your Own History on This Washi!”
This pair of denim is constructed using Samurai Jeans' specially developed 15oz “Vertical-Irregular-Slub” denim, accented with a Katana-Silver mixed with “Inky Blue” coloured selvedge ID. Produced in limited quantities, the fabric is woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms, creating an irregular vertical slub texture while still maintaining a smooth hand feel.
The warp yarns are spun from long-fibre Supima cotton, prized for its natural sheen and softness, then rope-dyed in a deep “Grand Indigo” tone. For the weft, Samurai incorporates traditional Japanese Washi paper fibres made from the inner bark of the gampi tree. This unique blend enhances breathability and moisture control, helping keep the wearer dry and comfortable in humid conditions. With continued wear and washing, the denim develops strong contrast fades and increasingly pronounced vertical character, revealing richer texture and depth over time.
Fit-wise, this pair features a medium rise with a slightly tapered slim fit silhouette. The cut offers a clean, refined shape without feeling overly tight, making it an easy match with both sneakers and boots while complementing the denim’s textured character perfectly.
