FILE 017: UES Indigo Dyed Denim "Western Winter Vest" -- 15 Years of Wear

This denim version of a winter vest from UES was worn by CORLECTION's Lee, who shares:
"Sometimes, I do miss the old UES (maybe just like how some of you still miss old Kanye, lol~). This was the first denim vest I got from UES back in 2010.
I’ve always loved the original concept behind the brand — wearing hand-made products until they truly become 'waste' (In Japanese, UES is pronounced similarly to 'waste').
So I kept wearing this denim vest again and again… until it finally became too light to handle winter."

"If I remember correctly, the denim shell weighed around 14oz in a deep grand indigo tone. The polyester pile lining made it surprisingly washable for a vintage-style vest.
During the first five years, I wore it roughly twice a week throughout Sydney winters — about three to four months a year. At the end of every season, I gave it a single wash, always hoping for that strong, high-contrast fade."

"The Old UES products were mostly designed by UES’s former manager, Miyazaki-san.
He infused a warm, soulful feeling into the products through thoughtful details.I especially love how the oval-shaped Waldes brass zipper has aged over the years, and the Chimayo-style pattern hidden aside with the selvage ID of the front waist pockets.
To be honest, some of these “hidden messages” could last more than a LIFETIME."

"After five years of wear and seasonal washes, the vest gradually shifted toward a sky-blue indigo, revealing layered shades of blue over time.To my surprise, even the armpits developed roping fades — a detail I never would’ve imagined appearing there."

"Time really flies. After a decade of wear, I began to notice areas starting to wear through. The denim weight has dropped to roughly 5–6oz — even thinner than my summer chambray shirt.Yet, I believe its true Prime Time only arrived after that decade of wear.It matured into its most soulful look and most comfortable vibe — both at the same time."

"Until today, I’ve been wearing this denim vest for over 15 years.Even the pile lining has become too thin to handle Sydney’s deep winter. For the past five years, I’ve only worn it once a week, about two months a year.
It holds so many memories within its ageing process.I have to say — it has naturally become one of my favourite pieces in the Ultimate Collection!"
