This Samurai Indigo Dyed Heavyweight Flannel Workshirt (Forest Green) was worn by our longtime Sydney VIP friend, Lake, who shares:
" I’ve always been a big fan of Samurai, and also a big fan of indigo thread-dyed products. Five years ago, when I first saw this indigo thread-dyed flannel workshirt from Samurai, I immediately fell in love with it. It was autumn in Sydney, and I was looking for a heavyweight flannel workshirt that I could wear as a lightweight jacket, or layer underneath another jacket during winter when needed. CORLECTION’s Lee told me that this sturdy-feeling heavyweight flannel shirt would age much like Samurai’s raw denim because it is indigo thread-dyed rather than garment-dyed.

" For the first year, I really wore this shirt a lot. If my memory serves me right, I wore it as a lightweight jacket around 3–4 days a week during autumn and spring. In winter, I wore it underneath my winter jacket as a heavyweight flannel workshirt, sometimes for up to 6 days a week. It just felt so comfortable and cozy on those cool-weather days. To bring out more shades of indigo, I followed CORLECTION’s Lee’s suggestion and washed it almost every week. This also helped ensure that the textured fabric would stay fresh and last longer."
" The ageing process was quite similar to Samurai’s signature raw denim. After 6 months of regular wear and more than a dozen washes, I could already see many different shades of indigo being revealed week by week. I noticed that the 'dark green' areas, which were sulphur thread-dyed, were ageing at a much slower pace. Meanwhile, the grand indigo thread-dyed areas were fading much faster. The contrast between the two is unbelievably beautiful! It was something I had never experienced before, and watching the different colours emerge through regular wear and washing made the ageing process even more enjoyable!"
" After the first year of wear, I settled into a more consistent routine with this shirt, wearing it around 3–4 days a week while still washing it every week. From my experience, this heavyweight flannel workshirt started out at around 12–13oz. With regular wear and washing, I felt that it became roughly 1oz lighter each year as the fabric gradually softened and aged. I also started to really appreciate the lightweight cotton twill lining on the collar and cuffs. They not only add a nice contrast to the heavyweight flannel, but also help protect these high-wear areas and keep the shirt from wearing out too quickly."
"Talking about the construction of this flannel workshirt, I’d give it a solid 10 out of 10! After four years of continuous wear, the three-needle chain-stitch construction has definitely done its job, holding this shirt together strong and sturdy, just like my old fella, lol~"
