FILE 035: Lewis Leathers 441T Sheepskin 'Cyclone' Jacket (Dark Navy) -- 4 Years of Wear.

This Lewis Leathers 441T Sheepskin "Cyclone" Jacket (Dark Navy) is worn by our Sydney VIP friend -- Danny. Originally from Japan, Danny has been living in Australia for decades. He's a member of a Rock & Roll band, works at a leather tannery—giving him an exceptional understanding of leather—and is also one of the biggest Lewis Leathers collectors we've ever met. Who shares:
"Lewis Leathers is a legendary brand. I have always been, still am, and always will be a huge fan of Lewis Leathers. When you think of vintage denim, the first brand that comes to mind is Levi's. In the same way, when it comes to vintage leather jackets or the most iconic heritage leather jacket brands, Lewis Leathers will always be the No. 1 name that comes to my mind.
As someone originally from Japan, I know just how exceptional Japanese leather tanning can be. However, if we're talking about the quality of the raw hides before the tanning process, I honestly believe Lewis Leathers uses some of the finest leather in the world. Very few Japanese brands can match it—especially when it comes to their sheepskin."

"This is the customised 441T that I discussed and ordered through Lee at CORLECTION. I chose the Dark Navy sheepskin—which is darker than the standard Navy colour—along with the vintage beige zip tape.
I've been wearing this jacket once or twice a week for over four years, and I only give it a basic leather treatment once a year. As you can see, the Dark Navy sheepskin has gradually developed into an even deeper shade, looking almost black with age. Yet under direct sunlight, you can still catch a subtle blue sheen coming through.
That transformation is what surprised me the most. It's a beautiful ageing process that only gets better with time, and one of the reasons I enjoy wearing this jacket so much."

"Compared to horsehide, I think sheepskin ages in a much more 'Wabi-Sabi Way'. The warmth from your body and years of regular wear allow the leather to evolve much more visibly. After four years, the surface has become richer and more uneven in tone, with the natural oils gradually rising through the hide.
In many ways, it reminds me of a well-loved horsehide jacket that has been worn for over half a century."

"For this customised 441T jacket, I requested an inner chest pocket to be added. The result turned out great—it looks as though it was part of the original design. Whenever I need to carry valuables, I always keep them in this inner pocket. It's a simple customisation, but one that makes the jacket even more practical for everyday wear."

"It looks just as stunning from the back. The way the leather has aged is beyond anything I expected, developing a depth of character that only years of regular wear can create."

" Years ago, I saw some younger guys spending well over ten thousand dollars on leather jackets that were artificially aged to look vintage. To be honest, I always thought that was a bit ridiculous.
My advice is simple—Trust In Time. Just keep wearing your Lewis Leathers, enjoy every ride and every journey, and let the jacket age naturally. Years later, you'll have a truly high-end aged leather jacket with a patina that no factory can replicate. More importantly, every crease, every fade, and every mark will reflect your own experiences and your own story."
