FILE 022:Freewheelers 14oz 601RB "Motor Psyclone" Black Denim -- 4 Years of Wear

This pair of Freewheelers 14oz 601RB "Motor Psyclone" Black Denim was worn by our Melbourne Staff -- Vito, as he shares:
"I’ve been wearing this pair of denim since 2021, and they’ve become my favourite black jeans so far. I call them my 'Black Uniform' because I wear them exclusively for work at CORLECTION’s Melbourne store—five days a week. Over time, they’ve naturally become like a second skin. Sometimes I even feel they’ve become too thin for Melbourne’s colder months because of how often I wear them and the denim’s current thickness."

"If my memory serves me correctly, the 601RB Black Denim was the first black denim that FW created for their sub-line, Motor Psyclone. The 'RB' stands for FW’s classic Rude Black, a shade that previously appeared only in their leather jacket collection. It captures the wild, rebellious vibe of vintage motor bikers.
In its brand-new state, the denim had an intensely deep black tone. Both the warp and weft threads were sulphur-dyed in solid black, giving this pair a true DARKNESS aesthetic."

"After the first six months of wear—washing them about once a month—I started to notice the black-coated copper buttons developing a slight brownish hue. The centres of the belt loops also began turning white little by little. That’s when I knew it: the ageing process had officially begun!"

"During the first six months of wear, I also realised that the rivet shank was a bit too sharp and slightly too long. So I followed Mr. Gas-Master’s method—the graphic designer behind Freewheelers—and used a hammer to shorten the shank and smooth out the surface."

"After 12 months of wear and 12 washes, the cat’s whiskers fades had fully developed across the top block. I love this bold black-and-white contrast, and at the same time, I noticed a thunder fade pattern forming within the creases. It’s such a beautiful sight—almost like looking at a 'Thunderstorm Before Dawn'. "

"Time really does fly… After four years of continuous wear, the full-grain cowhide leather patch has transformed from its almost white, natural tan tone into a deep brown hue with a unique sheen. In a way, it now resembles the paper-ticket patches found on early ’70s vintage Levi’s denim."

"The attached red tab has become less visible over time, and I’ve started to feel like these jeans have become part of my own personal vintage archive after four years of wear."

Four years of continuous wear is a heavy job for any pair of denim. The crotch and cuffs gradually wore out, so I asked our very talented tailor to repair those areas. I especially love the train-track fades along the side seams—something I consider quite rare to see develop naturally.

"Sometimes, when I stare at this well-aged pair of black denim, it reminds me of what CORLECTION’s Lee told me years ago: 'Life’s A Movie—We All Play A Role or Some…' And it’s true. Life really is like a black-and-white film, and each of us plays our own part in it..."
