“This was my very first pair of PBJ denim, which I started wearing on February 1st, 2010. At that time, CORLECTION had only been in business for three months, and PBJ had just become our very FIRST Japanese denim brand.

My first impression of PBJ’s 14.5oz slubby-textured denim was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I had never experienced anything like slubby denim before — I was completely SHOCKED!”

“I still remember when I first got them. I turned them inside out and soaked them in warm water for 30 minutes—they were brand new, raw denim. After that first soak, I wore them six days a week for the first 6 months (gentle machine-washed every 2 months). It happened to be the hottest summer I’d ever experienced in Sydney. I was sweating like crazy in those slubby jeans, and sometimes I’d whisper to myself, ‘No Pain, No Gain.’ Lol. Looking back, I doubt I’d ever go through that kind of process again, but it’s a memory that sticks.”

"2010—that was right around the beginning of the Japanese denim trend hitting the West. If I remember correctly, all the denim heads back then had their own little rituals. Some would keep an old iron candy tin, a rare silver coin, or even a useless key tucked into their coin pocket. Me? I picked up a vintage Zippo and kept it in there every day. I used to imagine myself as some Vietnam War vet—kinda ridiculous, but hey, it fit the mood. Haha.

Over a year of wear, that coin pocket told a story of its own. The case wore in beautifully, showing off a unique patina—like a badge of honour earned through time!"

"I still remember how, back then, we used a pin to attach the price tag to the product. I’ve kept that pin in my belt loop ever since. Honestly, this roped belt loop has aged pretty well."

"As a Day One staff member at CORLECTION, I was always nervous serving customers in our Sydney store. I used to keep my hands tucked into the front pockets of my denim — so much that they eventually wore out. My colleague, Cindy, lovingly hand-stitched and repaired them for me. Now, they carry these Beautiful Marks, FOREVER."

"In CORLECTION’s very first year, it was just Cindy and me working in the store. I always loved kneeling down to help customers try on Red Wing boots and lace them up — it felt personal. But after just six months, the knees of my jeans were completely worn out. Cindy hand-stitched and repaired them for me. I started to worry about this pair of denim back then... I was too broke to afford a new pair. So I made a decision: I’d wear them five days a week instead of six, and from that point on, I began soaking them every single month."

"Back in 2010, as a hardcore Japanese denim fan, I had to carry my phone and wallet in the back pockets — it was just the way. I had a Nokia N95 and a Kawatako short wallet back then. The denim wore out perfectly around them… as broke as I was, right? Lol~"

"Not sure how many of you have seen this vintage-style PBJ leather patch's design — just stamped with 'Pure Blue Japan'. I love how the vegetable-tanned sheepskin has aged over time, developing a richer sheen and a darker tone with wear."

"When it comes to the aging of slim straight fit denim, the front ‘cat’s whiskers’ fades usually aren't that impressive — mainly because of the tight fit. But on the flip side, the honeycomb fades behind the knees often come out beautifully because of that same tightness. I love how these honeycombs have formed — it’s SWEET!"

"I’ve always loved the 'Indigo Leaf' embroidery on the back. With wear, it takes on such a soulful look... It truly becomes a Symbol of Texture."

"After 9 months of hard wear, Cindy had to help me repair my denim almost every month for 3 months — right after each warm soak. When I finally retired that pair after a full year of wear, I cried. Honestly, it was the first time I realized denim could be more than just denim itself. It could be a LIFETIME friend… a Part of Your Life."
