The beauty of traditional Japanese mud-dyeing and sashiko fabric with a stylish modern fit!

The history of sashiko Japanese fabric has evolved from the tradition of continually repairing kimonos, that would be traditionally worn all year round. These days sashiko stitch-work patterns are incorporated for their aesthetic beauty and unique Japanese design! This 15oz sashiko fabric has been slowly woven using vintage dobby knitting looms to create an unreal three-dimensional texture!

The ancient mud-dyeing process called "dorozome" dates back over 1000 years, using the unique dye properties of the mud and hawthorn trees native to the Amami Islands! This process, performed by highly skilled Japanese craftsmen, results in a garment-dyed fabric with a rich dark mahogany brown colour With wear and washing this fabric will slowly age to a soulful earthy look!

In terms of construction, this pattern is based on the classic 5-button denim design, with raised belt loops and hidden back pocket rivets for extra durability! Speaking of details, this pair features a custom design extra-thick cowhide leather patch which will age with a soulful mahogany patina!

If you are looking to grab some of the best Japanese sashiko trousers, inspired by ancient Japanese dyeing techniques, grab yourself a pair of SDA today!
